About Somerset Apartments

THE HISTORY:

Built-in the 1920s by silent screen mega-stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks for their theater friends.

Mary Pickford named the building “Somerset” to honor playwright and novelist Somerset Maugham. Many notables lived there, including Stan Laurel of the “Laurel and Hardy” comedy team.

THE LOCATION:

The Somerset is located at 6075 Franklin Avenue (The corner of Franklin and Gower) in the best, most popular area of Hollywood. (South of the Hollywood Hills sign) Famous “Hollywood and Vine” is just a few minutes away. There is shopping, restaurants, theaters, banking, gyms, and much more, all within walking distance. The Somerset Apts is close to the Metro rail and the Hollywood Freeway. The city bus lines stop at the front of the building. Visit the nearby “Red Carpet” Annual Academy Award Presentations.

THE BUILDING:

The three-story brick and concrete building consists of 72 large single apartments. Each unit is elegantly furnished. The water and gas are provided. Tenants pay for their own electricity.

All apartments shown for rent at the “Somerset” have been completely renovated, modernized, and elegantly furnished.

There is a large, landscaped courtyard entrance to the building, a pool/patio in the spacious rear courtyard, and a high concrete-walled secure parking lot beyond that. The building elevator accesses the laundry room. The intercom to the front entry works through your own phone line. The Somerset apartment building is clean, quiet, and meticulously maintained. A great effort and thought have been directed to overall safety and security. There are many high-resolution surveillance TV cameras (inside and outside) about the premises with the viewing monitors directly in front of the two managers. (See Photo) All surveillance cameras are individually videotaped 24/7, as well as individually monitored by the managers while on duty.

The apartment door jams are heavy steel, and the entry doors are solid core, very thick wood. The finest locks are used. There has never been any vandalism or any break-in to the building, to an apartment, or to the parking lot. The parking lot has remote operated electric gates.

The office of the building is open from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, seven days a week to provide service for the tenants.
